Why did Jason Deford, better known as “Jelly Roll” go to Prison

He was convicted of Aggrovated Robbery in 2002 and spent over 8 years behind bars for it. There have been several other charges along with probation over the years as well. I’m only including this information because people ask and 100% not to shame this man. He may have a rough exterior but thats just the cover of a book.

The picture below was taken backstage at Rocklahoma 2021 and in my opinion sums up what kind of guy he is. There were about 60 of us and he made sure every person had a chance to meet with him, shake hands, and take a picture… IN THE RAIN! I have met hundreds of musicians and none of them would ever do that. Hard working genuinely nice guy if you ask me.

We all have a past and that is why so many of us can relate to his music. Not for nothing, Jelly is one of the friendliest musicians I have had the privilege to meet. I still wouldnt get on his bad side and try to wake up any sleeping demons. That said, he has put all this behind him and has used his life experiences to inspire the music we all love. I know this rant has been pretty thick but just trying to make up for putting his business out there like this.
